Connepro is a place for students and alumni to share ventures. Each school's innovation office runs its own campus. The platform operator approves a school before that campus opens. This page says what is stored and who can see it.
The account
You can sign in with Google, or with an email and password. An email account has to confirm that address before it can continue. Google sign-in brings the name, email, and photo on that account. An email account starts with the address you type.
That email is used for sign-in, venture invites, and notification email. The contact field starts with that address, and it shows on your profile if you leave it there. You can change it or clear it.
What you add
A profile can include your name, place (Student, Alumni, or Community), your home school, whether you work at that school, whether you teach, the market you are interested in or the industry you work in, a student's major, headline, about text, interests, photo, LinkedIn, GitHub, and an optional contact email and phone number. Students also add a class year, and can say if they are looking for a job, an internship, mentorship, a scholarship, project funding, or career advice. Alumni and community can say they are willing to support a project, mentor, refer someone for a job, review a pitch, make an introduction, or help find funding. They can also say they can hire. That hire claim stays off other people’s screens until that school's innovation office confirms it. The office can separately mark that someone can fund a project. A judge, a cohort mentor, or an admitted founder is stored on that program, not as a profile type. A judge’s note is visible to the office. A cohort mentor can see the name and venture of a team the office admitted. The office can add a staff person, who can then admit people, post programs and resources, and confirm hire or funding. The field you choose is used to order the feed and to suggest people at the same school who can help a venture in that field.
The school confirmation is a box you check. Connepro does not ask the school to verify that box. A student email domain, when the office requires one, is checked against the domains that office saved.
A venture can include its name, stage, story, what it is looking for, a logo, a website, and updates. An update can include a photo and a link.
Someone on a venture can ask one alumni or community member, in the same market, for one favor that person already offered. The team can see that ask. After a yes, the two people can exchange short messages. Those messages stay with the two of them. When the favor is done, the helper's name and the favor are shown on the venture to people who are signed in. The innovation office can see who has said yes on a venture that applied to a program, and can introduce one person. That conversation stays with the two people.
A reply to a venture update, and a note that you can help with what the team asked for, show your name under that update to people who are signed in. The team gets a notification. When a favor is done, a short line naming the helper and the venture can appear in the feed.
You can apply to a program. That application stores your note, the venture you attach, and the email on your account so the innovation office can reach the team.
The innovation office can publish an office name, a short description, a logo, and a public link. That page can be opened without an account. The product operator can add a campus or move which account holds a campus. Staff at a campus cannot change who the customer is.
A program poll stores one vote per person. Who voted for what is not shown to anyone except the office running that program. Results are shown only after the office closes the poll.
A poll or a venture opening can get a link that opens without an account, but only when the office (for a poll) or the venture owner (for an opening) turns it on. A shared poll page shows the program name, the question, the options, and results once the poll is closed. A shared opening page shows the venture name, stage, field, and the roles the team wants. Neither page shows contact details or who voted. The person who turned sharing on can turn it off, and the page then stops working.
An idea you save in one sentence is stored on your account and only you can read it. It is removed when you turn it into a venture.
What other people can see
Profiles, ventures, updates, programs, resources, and program chats are public. Someone can open them without an account.
A contact email or phone appears on your profile only after you save it. LinkedIn and GitHub appear only if you add those links.
Team invites, join requests, offers, and the email addresses on a venture team are not public. The venture owner can see them. The innovation office can see team emails so it can email people admitted to a program.
A venture chat is for the team and the innovation office. A notice the office shares with an admitted team is stored on each person’s account and shown on their home. Other students do not get that notice.
A resource can be limited to everyone, students, alumni, or people admitted to one program. People outside that group do not get it in the list.
Who else handles it
Google Firebase stores accounts and the app data. Google sign-in is covered by Google’s own terms and privacy policy.
Photos you upload for a profile, a venture logo, an update, or a program are stored in Microsoft Azure. The link is saved in Connepro and is readable by anyone who can see that profile, venture, update, or program.
Notification email is sent through Resend when that service is configured. If it is not configured, the notice still appears in the app and no email is sent.
The site is hosted on Vercel.
Connepro does not charge a fee and does not sell personal information.
How long it stays
There is no delete button in the app. To remove a profile, a venture, or a contact detail, email your school's innovation office, or the platform operator at muyumba@andrews.edu. Say which account and what you want removed.
You can also edit your profile and clear the optional email, phone, LinkedIn, and GitHub fields. The next save replaces what was stored.
Children
Connepro is for university students and alumni. It is not meant for children under 13.
